Experience the best ever lift-accessed mountain bike trails this summer at leading French Alpine resort Les Arcs. Boasting nine lifts servicing 180km of groomed tracks and 21 trails, it is suitable for all levels of riders, offering mountain biking at altitudes from 800m up to 2600m.
Les Arcs has the highest number of lifts open in the Tarentaise and offers some of the best variety of trails – from open, high-altitude descents, to long single-track through the forests. There is also the NEW Commencal Days event, offering four days of bike and kit testing, fun competitions, concerts and fun activities for all ages in the village of Arc 1800 from 28th-31st July 2017.
The Les Arcs Bike Park Offers Such Diversity
With the lifts open from 8th July until 2nd September 2017, all the villages of Les Arcs, including Peisey-Vallandry, will offer eight downhill pistes, five Enduro itineraries and 26km of cross country trails. This is complemented by a Freestyle Zone at Arc 1600 which includes two Northshore lines, a slopestyle course, a four cross course and seven practice parks for those looking to perfect their technique.
If that is not enough, mountain bikers can enjoy a long and unique descent on the black ‘8’ Downhill trail, which starts in the forest of Arc 1600 and offers a 8km descent to the bottom of Bourg St Maurice, after which riders can take the funicular back in Arc 1600, taking just seven minutes. Perfect for those looking to maximise their time on the bike.
Commençal Days Event – 28th – 31st July 2017
A new mountain bike event will come to Les Arcs in the form of the ‘COMMENCAL DAYS’. Supported by the mountain bike brand Commençal, the event will offer four days of bike and kit testing, fun competitions, concerts and fun activities for all ages in the village of Arc 1800.
Expert or Beginners, There’s Something For Everyone!
Les Arcs is a mountain bikers dream this summer, and not just for experts, as there are also plenty of options for beginners. As well as the practice parks, there are seven green runs and a number of options for lessons and beginner sessions, with both Arc Mountain Bike School and Spirit/ Evolution in Arc 1950.
For those that need a bit of assistance, there is also the chance to rent an electric mountain bike in both Arc 1800 (Ski Set Tournavelles) and Bourg St Maurice (Intersport and Precision Ski). New for this summer will be one electric charging station for e-bikes in Bourg St Maurice, just by the train station.

Huge Range of Outdoor Activities in Les Arcs in the Summer
Activities for thrill-seekers:
Ø NEW for this summer, Les Arcs Speedriding School will offer long-distance tandem flights, also known as cross-country flights, which last 1 ½ – 3 hours.
Ø The Arc 1800 Adventure Course offers 70 different routes swinging from one tree to the next, crossing a rope bridge and launching into the air on a zip wire.
Ø The Bureau des Guides des Arcs offers a wide range of canyon descents with jumps, slides and abseils into pools. Accessible to children aged 12 and over accompanied by their parents.
Tennis and golf:
Ø Les Arcs has always been a mecca for tennis with 22 tennis courts spread over the whole resort. There is a free initiation session every Sunday morning for anyone who wants to give it a go.
Ø The Les Arcs golf course, with fairways between 1790m – 1890m, offers both a 18 and 9 hole course and is open from 20th June – 15th September. There is also indoor golf simulator in Le Lodge if the weather is bad.
Hiking, trails and footpaths:
Ø There are hiking trails for all levels in Les Arcs. For budding hikers there are lots of easy hiking trails where distances are short and there is not much elevation gain, but always breathtaking scenery.
Ø On the 23rd July, the Vertical K2 Villaroger – Les Arcs takes place. It is the only French stage of the European K2 Cup, a European double Vertical Kilometre challenge for trail runners.
Wellness, culture and heritage:
Ø Enjoy views of Mont Blanc in the 3800 m2 aqua-leisure centre in Arc 1800 with indoor and outdoor pools with bubble massage beds, water jets, whirlpools and slides.
Ø Arc 1950 Le Village’s Deep Nature Spa, one of the largest spas in the Alps (1000 m2) is an absolute must! NEW for this summer are treatments for children aged 6-12 in its “My first spa” range.
Ø The Les Arcs Music Festival takes place from 16th July – 1st August for its 44th edition. This year’s theme is “Italian Music” with 34 internationally-renowned musicians.
