Flyboard Air – The Jet Powered Real Life Hoverboard

On the 30th April 2016, Franky Zapata demonstrated the update of the ZR Flyboard water jet hoverboard with his jet powered Flyboard Air that can travel at 90mph (150km/h). Making a new world record for the farthest distance travelled on an untethered hoverboard that actually flies. He travelled on the Flyboard Air a staggering distance of 2,252 metres (7,388ft) off the French Atlantic coastal town of Sausset-les-Pins.

The Flyboard Air has a top speed of 150km/h (93,2 mph), and a flight time of approximately 10 minutes. Not bad for a prototype. Now you can experience a drone’s eye view for yourself.

His invention is such a disruptive technology that US Department of Homeland Security supplier Implant Science has bought his company. Some people are saying that the video is fake and it is just the water jet powered Flyboard edited to remove the water hose from the image. However, this is actually a completely different technology. The engineering involved to focus the air jets downwards must have taken some calculations.

If you want to have a go on a Flyboard yourself you can try the Water Powered Flyboard
